Bhubaneswar, April 15: Veteran leader Suresh Routray was on Monday expelled from Congress for indiscipline and anti-party activities.
Routray, the sitting MLA from Jatni assembly constituency, was expelled by the AICC from the party for six years.
Suresh Routray was campaigning for his son Manmath Routray, who is conesting from Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency on Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket.
Earlier, the Congress had issued a showcause notice to the Jatni MLA for campainging in favour of his son.
Routray was elected from Jatni for 6 times on Congress ticket. He was a minister during the JB Patnaik government in the state.
