Sulagna sisters’ ‘Egara Ek Egara’ song on mass voting sets YouTube on fire

Malkangiri, April 5: Sulagna sisters’ ‘Egara Ek Egara’ song on mass voting has set YouTube on fire after the two minor girls hailing from Odisha’s Malkangiri district echoed their tender duets in the rural suburbs, to sensitize on voting rights through a joyful rendition based on Panikia(Multiplication Table).

The duet ‘Egara Ek Egara’, after being reverberated in the nook and corner of the underdeveloped district on its raw form, has been hosted to the YouTube with embedding mesmerising audio visuals and folk music to it.

Preeti Sulagna and her sister Shruti Sulagna from the Kalimela block in Malkangiri have presented the beautiful rendition ‘Egara Ek Egara’ by blending mathematical numerology, essential information on voting rights with fascinating music, to boost voters turnout in the upcoming general election.

The song goes as: “Egara Eke Egara, Matadana Nagarika Shrestha adhikara, Egare Dune Baisi, Vote Deba Pain Jiba Sabu Maa Mausi.” The sonnet literally means, voting is one of the prime rights of a citizen. Thus, every voter should exercise his democratic franchise without fail.

Meant for raising awareness among the tribal community of the Malkangiri district, ‘Egara Ek Egara’ later turned to an awareness song for the Odisha State Chief Electoral Office (CEO), for its social approach and wide-spread influence among the common public. 

Earlier the duo had released another audio song with the title “Mo Vote, Mo Samman” that also got a lot of social appreciation.

Worth mentioning, the Sulagna sisters had made headlines across the state for their popular awareness songs on Corona pandemic and at the point of other socio-cultural issues.

The ‘Egara Ek Egara’ voting-song was written by Educationist Dr Sanatan Panda and composed by the parents of Sulagna sisters, who are professional vocalists.
