Basta, Oct 12: Working president of BJD woman wing Subashini Jena will contest from Basta Assembly constituency of Balasore district, announced party district president and minister Aswini Patra during Jana Samparka Padayatra here on Wednesday.
Standing MLA Nityananda Sahoo was absent at the party event was held near his residence.
Subashini Jena will lead Basta people in coming days, said Patra. The minister announced this in presence of Balasore district observer and minister Pratap Deb.
However, Patra'a announcement has fuel political rumours in the district. There were several aspirants in Basta having good relation with state-level party functionaries. This announcement much ahead of election will erupt infighting among the party leaders in the grassroots level, said political onlookers.
Nityananda Sahoo's supporters have alleged that the district president organised the party event without consulting the standing MLA following which he did not attend it.
