Students involved in humanitarian activities have a bright future : SOA Vice President

                Bhubaneswar, October 11: The inculcation of humanitarian attitude in students who have involved themselves in serving underprivileged children of the society will have a positive influence on their future, Saswati Das, Vice-President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), said on Saturday.

                The students of SOA Deemed to be University who have taken upon themselves the task of teaching children from nearby slums in their spare time need to be congratulated and they can look forward to a bright future, Das said while speaking as the chief guest at the 19th Foundation Day of ‘Jaago’, an initiative of the university to serve underprivileged children.

                “I have a special place for these students in my heart,” she said.

                “Jaago’ has been functioning in the university since 2007 working for the all round development of such children and the students have involved themselves in nation building activity, Ms. Das said.

                Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, who also addressed the program, said the activities of ‘Jaago’ would be extended to the entire university as it has proved to be a huge attempt at the development of society.

                Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), delivered the welcome address while the program was also addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Manjula Das, Controller of Examination, Prof. Pradip Kumar Sahu, Dean, Institute of Technical Education and Research and Prof. Anita Panda, Mentor of ‘Jaago’.

                Children served by ‘Jaago’ and students involved in its program staged a cultural program to mark the occasion.
