Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday hailed the Union Budget 2026–27 as progressive and inclusive, stating that it reflects the vision of “Development with Heritage.”

Majhi said the budget focuses on the development of all sections of society, with special emphasis on empowering the youth.

The Chief Minister said it opens fresh avenues for youth, ensures security for farmers, encourages entrepreneurs, provides relief to the middle class, and acknowledges the contribution of workers.

He noted that the budget places strong focus on innovation, manufacturing, and job creation, while reinforcing key sectors such as agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, tourism, culture, and knowledge traditions.

Emphasising the benefits for Odisha, CM Majhi said the proposed Rare Earth Corridor would significantly enhance mineral processing, research, and high-technology manufacturing in the state.

He also highlighted that the operationalisation of National Waterway-5 (NW-5) would link mineral-rich and industrial regions with ports, facilitating cost-effective and environmentally sustainable transport. According to him, skill development centres along the waterway would provide training and employment opportunities for local youth.

The Chief Minister welcomed conservation-led tourism initiatives, including Turtle Trails and mountain trails in the Eastern Ghats, stating that these efforts would protect biodiversity, empower local communities, and position Odisha as a global hub for nature and adventure tourism.

He further said that increased support for MSMEs, startups, and indigenous production would strengthen the foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Stressing social justice, inclusive development, and good governance, CM Majhi said the budget lays a strong base for the country’s present and future growth.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister, the Chief Minister described the Union Budget as visionary and welfare-oriented.
