Bhubaneswar, November 18: Maintaining that the Government will not allow its image to be tarnished by unethical practices, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday issued a nine-point strong directive to the Collectors to strengthen the governance and restore public trust.

Addressing the District Collectors' Conference at the Lokseba Bhawan, the Chief Minister said the Collectors will be held responsible if the welfare schemes and promises made by the Government is not implemented effectively in the ground-level.

“The Government remain committed to zero tolerance for corruption. Government will not allow its image to be tarnished by unethical practices.” warned the Chief Minister.

Highlighting the benefit of field visits for good foverance Majhi said he has already visited almost all districts in the State and asked Collectors to increase field visits and actively engage with citizens, and prioritise grievance redressal at the district level itself.

“People’s feedback is very crucial for good governance. Our Government has completed 524 days in office. Meanwhile, I have visited almost all the districts in the State with highest 34 times to Cuttack followed by 32 times to Keonjhar, 27 times to Puri, eight times to Sambalpur, seven times to Mayurbhanj and six times to Nuapada. And I meet people there and listen to their feedbacks also act accordingly,” said CM Majhi.

He also emphasised on the use of technology for efficient administration and wider dissemination of Government initiatives through social media.

Highlighting the importance of cultural identity of the State, CM Majhi directed Collectors to promote and extensively use the Odia language in administrative work.

He also called for reducing excessive outsourcing, giving due respect to elected representatives visiting Government offices, and identifying officials who are posted in a single place for a long period time and inactive.
