Mercury set to rise amid early morning fog warning

Residents across Odisha can expect a significant shift in weather patterns as the biting cold begins to retreat. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted a distinct warming trend, signaling relief for those struggling with the winter chill. According to the latest Odisha weather forecast, minimum temperatures (night temperatures) are set to rise gradually by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days.

While dry weather has prevailed over the districts recently, the temperature disparity remains stark. On February 8, G. Udayagiri in the hill stations recorded the state's lowest temperature at a freezing 4.4 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Phulbani at 7.8 degrees. In contrast, Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature at 33.7 degrees Celsius, indicating nearly summer-like conditions during the day.

For the Twin Cities, weather conditions remain moderate. The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack registered 15.0 degrees. However, citizens in these urban areas should prepare for reduced visibility.

Fog Alert Issued

The Met Department has issued a forecast for shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours. This will primarily impact isolated pockets in coastal districts including Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Ganjam, and Nayagarh. This foggy condition is expected to persist from February 9 through February 13.

Commuters travelling on highways in these coastal belts are advised to drive with caution during the early hours. Following the projected rise in temperature over the coming days, meteorologists expect no large changes in the weather pattern thereafter, suggesting a stable transition away from peak winter conditions.
