Bhubaneswar, Aug 18: The Special Task Force (STF) arrested one accused for cheating by impersonating as RTI official and fooling people in the name of senior officers. 

Police has arrested the accused identified as Kishore Kumar Mishra. Police have seized a fake ID of Information & Public Relations Department.

Police said that Mishra used to cheat and extort people claiming to be RTI activist and also fooling people that he has close proximity with senior officers and can get them crusher license, liquor license, transfers and postings.

“Bank accounts of Mishra showed credit of more than Rs 2 crore in last few years with lots of cash deposits. Initial investigation revealed Mishra was a member of a larger group indulging in cheating and impersonation. It was also noticed that this group used mule bank accounts including some accounts of dead persons to channelize the money,” said a police official.

Mishra is MA in political science with good command over language including English. He is a resident of Berhampur but has been living in Koraput for many years.
