Bhubaneswar, July 16: The entire state remains shaken by the tragic death of Soumyashree. Amid the widespread outrage, attention has shifted away from Jyotiprakash Biswal, a student of FM College, who courageously tried to save her but was critically injured in the process. Jyotiprakash is now undergoing treatment in the burn unit ICU at the SCB Medical College and Hopsital, Cuttack.
According to Jyotiprakash’s father, despite his son’s severe condition, neither the government nor hospital administration has reached out to offer support or assistance. "My son’s both hands and face are completely burnt," he said, appealing for immediate government intervention.
Jyotiprakash’s condition remains serious, with his family by his side at a major medical facility in Cuttack. Dr. Bibhuti Nayak, Head of the Plastic Surgery Department, confirmed that while Jyotiprakash’s health is currently stable, his hands, face, and lungs have sustained significant injuries. Treatment is ongoing, and doctors are hopeful for improvement within a week. Dr. Nayak also stated that skin grafting may be required, which could prolong the recovery process.
The government’s silence on the matter has raised concerns as citizens call for urgent support for the young student who risked his life in a heroic effort to save another.
