Bhubaneswar, August 8: In a significant move to identify young sporting talent, the Odisha state government is set to organize inter-college sports competitions across all higher secondary (+2) colleges in the state. The initiative, spearheaded by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), will focus on students under the age of 19.
According to official sources, a directive has already been issued to the principals of all affiliated institutions, instructing them to make necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the events.
As many as 35 sporting disciplines, including kabaddi, kho-kho, football, and hockey, will be featured in the competitions. The talent hunt will be conducted over a period of three months — from October to December — aiming to foster grassroots-level sports development and identify promising athletes for future grooming.
The move is seen as part of the state’s broader efforts to promote sports culture and strengthen its presence in national and international sporting arenas.
