Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: The state government has instructed all District Collectors to implement a Biometric Attendance System in every revenue office within their jurisdiction.

In a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the government emphasized that punctuality is a top priority. “It is expected that all employees of the State Government shall reach their office within the prescribed time. This applies to everyone, from junior staff to senior government officials,” the notification read.

The decision comes after a surprise inspection by the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister at the Office of the Inspector General of Registration in Cuttack on July 21, 2025, where a considerable number of officers and staff were found arriving late.

The introduction of the biometric system aims to enforce punctuality and ensure timely attendance among government employees, which is seen as a crucial element of good governance.
