Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Star Air is set to enhance regional connectivity in western Odisha by starting operations at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda, from January 1, 2025.
The Bangalore-based airline will begin with bi-weekly flights between Jharsuguda and Hyderabad, with plans to expand routes to Raipur and Lucknow.
Initially, flights to Hyderabad will operate on Mondays and Sundays, with increased services scheduled for February 1. These include Jharsuguda-Raipur flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and Jharsuguda-Lucknow flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Equipped with modern infrastructure, VSS Airport is a 4C category facility capable of handling Airbus 321-type aircraft and up to 270 passengers per hour.
With the ability to accommodate six large aircraft simultaneously, the airport's upgraded capabilities are expected to play a pivotal role in boosting regional air connectivity and supporting the economic growth of the region.
