Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Ahead of the inauguration of Puri Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa on January 17, ‘Maha Yajna’ began today on the Parikrama premises.

The commencement of the Maha Yagna involves the worship of Lord Surya, followed by rituals such as Yagna Mandap Pradikhan, Toran Puja, Dwarapal Puja, and Dhwaja Puja. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Rs 800-crore project, aimed at facilitating a seamless darshan of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra, at the Puri Srimandir.
In observance of this event, all government offices, schools, and colleges in the state will remain closed. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has extended invitations to representatives from 90 religious shrines and institutions across the country to participate in the function.

On the special occasion of Makar Sankranti day, hundreds of devotees thronged the Jagannath Temple to witness the Maha Yagna and seek a glimpse of the Holy Trinity.
