Bhubaneswar, Aug 01: Odisha is set to host World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze competition at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on August 10.
Odisha's Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj reviewed the ongoing preparations at the stadium today.
Speaking during the review, the Minister said, “Hosting the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze in Odisha for the first time is a matter of immense pride. We are fully prepared to organise it successfully.”
In the review meeting, the discussions were focused on ensuring a seamless event experience, from world-class sporting infrastructure to hospitality and security arrangements.
The Minister emphasized that all aspects, including athlete safety, crowd management and deployment of police personnel, are being carefully planned. He assured that adequate administrative measures are being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
More than 200 athletes from 19 countries are expected to participate in 20 events. Odisha’s hosting of this globally recognized athletics event is seen as a testament to the state’s growing prominence as a sporting hub in India.
Minister Suraj expressed optimism that athletes from Odisha will once again make the state proud with commendable performances in this upcoming World Atheletic Continental Tour Bronze event.
The preparation review meeting was attended by Sports Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Sports Director Dr. Yeddula Vijay, Additional Commissioner of Police Narasingha Bhol, CEO of Hockey Promotion Council Deepankar Mahapatra, Sports additional secretares Bijay Kumar Swain and Ashok Kumar Panda.
