Bhadrak, Dec 12: A young woman from Bonth Block in Bhadrak district tragically took her own life after being reportedly forced into suicide by her lover, Prashant. The incident has sparked outrage as her family members allege that the authorities have not taken appropriate action.

The deceased, identified as Priyadarshini Das, had been in a long-term relationship with Prashant, a local youth from the nearby Bodakpatana village.

According to her family, Priyadarshini endured emotional and physical torment from Prashant, which led to her taking this extreme step. On the day of the incident, she ended her life by hanging herself with a dupatta in her home, while also recording the act on video, which has since gone viral on social media.

The family has lodged a written complaint with the Agarapada Police Station, attaching the video of the suicide and chat screenshots as evidence. However, they claim that no action has been taken against Prashant so far, leaving them seeking justice. The family is now demanding that Prashant be arrested and held accountable for his actions.

It has come to light that Prashant had sent several abusive messages to Priyadarshini, which were also submitted to the police.

Despite these clear signs of harassment, the police have yet to take any concrete steps. Priyadarshini’s family has now taken the matter to the Bhadrak District Superintendent of Police (SP), demanding immediate action and justice for their daughter's untimely death.
