Bhubaneswar, December 10: Congress leader and former MLA Mohammed Moquim has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the appointment of Bhakta Charan Das as Odisha PCC chief in 2025, despite his three consecutive Lok Sabha election defeats.

In a letter to Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi, Moquim criticized Das for his differing personal ideology, noting Das’s past opposition to the Gandhi family during the Jayaprakash movement and his support for the Koshal movement.

Moquim also pointed out Das’ leadership failures, including the Congress's loss in the Nuapada by-election by over 80,000 votes, in Das's own constituency. Moquim argued that if Das cannot earn trust in his own constituency, it’s unlikely party workers will follow him.

Emphasizing his own long-standing commitment to Congress, Moquim lamented the party’s repeated setbacks, including poor performances in recent elections. He urged for stronger leadership at the top and criticized the party’s disconnect with grassroots workers.

Moquim pointed out that Rahul Gandhi’s brief visit during the Bharat Jodo Yatra missed an opportunity to engage with people directly. He stressed that the party must focus on energizing booth workers and local leaders for any meaningful change.
