Night temperatures across Odisha districts set for gradual relief shortly

Residents across Odisha can expect a slight break from the biting cold as the IMD Bhubaneswar predicts a gradual rise in nighttime temperatures. According to the latest Odisha weather forecast, the minimum temperature is very likely to increase by 2-3°C over the next four days. Following this initial warm-up, the weather is expected to stabilize with no major changes for the subsequent three days.

While the slight rise offers relief, several regions are currently shivering under intense winter conditions. Data from the Meteorological Centre shows that G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal remains the coldest spot in the state, recording a low of 5.2°C. Close behind is Phulbani at 6.2°C. In contrast, Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31.7°C, highlighting the sharp contrast between day and night.

Visibility remains a major concern as a dense fog warning has been issued for various districts. Nayagarh recently experienced "Very Dense Fog" with visibility dropping below 50 meters. Similarly, Phulbani and Keonjhar have been blanketed in "Dense Fog." The capital city, Bhubaneswar, recorded a minimum of 14.0°C with shallow fog, while Cuttack saw a chillier 11.4°C.

The five-day fog forecast indicates that shallow to moderate fog will persist during the early morning hours until January 5, 2026. Districts including Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Koraput, and Sambalpur are expected to see frequent foggy patches. Commuters are advised to exercise caution on the highways during these hours. Despite the foggy mornings, the state is expected to maintain dry weather across all districts for the coming week.
