Bhubaneswar, June 6: The onset of the Southwest Monsoon in Odisha is anticipated within the coming three to four days, as revealed by Manorama Mohanty, the director of IMD Bhubaneswar, on Thursday. Initial ingress is projected to occur in the southern regions of Odisha before extending across the state.
According to IMD reports, current atmospheric conditions are conducive for the arrival of the Monsoon, which typically makes its entrance into Odisha during the second week of June.
Manorama Mohanty stated, “Historically, the Southwest Monsoon makes its way into Odisha around the 12th or 13th of June. We anticipate its arrival in southern Odisha within the next three to four days. As of now, conditions remain favorable.”
This year, the Southwest Monsoon advanced notably early, making landfall in the Andamans and Kerala ahead of schedule. Typically, it arrives over Kerala by June 1st, proceeding to traverse northeast India in subsequent days.
