Soumyashree suicide case transferred to District Court; Four accused produced under tight security

Balasore, Oct 9 : The high-profile suicide case of Soumyashree, a student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, has been officially transferred to the District Court for further trial proceedings. The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court ordered the transfer on Wednesday.

Four key accused in the case- Head of Department Sameer Kumar Sahu, former student union president Dillip Ghosh, ABVP state joint secretary Subhrasambit Nayak, and former ABVP member Jyotiprakash Biswal- were brought to the SDJM Court amidst tight security and presented before the magistrate. Following the court appearance, all four were sent to the District Court as per the legal procedures for the next phase of the trial.

Earlier, Sahadevkhunta Police had arrested HOD Sameer Sahu and former president Dillip Ghosh in connection with the case. The investigation was later handed over to the Crime Branch, which subsequently arrested ABVP student leaders Subhrasambit Nayak and Jyotiprakash Biswal.

The incident, which has sparked widespread public and student outrage, continues to draw significant attention as the judicial process unfolds.
