Bhubaneswar, May 1: Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the expelled BJD leader and Khandapara MLA, has dropped hints about contesting from the Ghasipura assembly seat in Keonjhar district.

During his visit to the Ghatagaon Maa Tarini temple on Tuesday, Patnaik revealed that he has received proposal from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest from Ghasipura. Besides, local people are urging him to participate in the elections. However, Patnaik has not yet confirmed his decision regarding the BJP’s offer.

Interestingly, Patnaik also questioned as to why the BJD has not announced its candidate for the Khandapada Assembly seat.

With the elections approaching, his sudden visit to Ghatagaon and the warm reception by well-wishers and youths along the way have raised questions and doubts.

Various political parties have suggested that he should participate in the upcoming elections, and the BJP’s proposal is one of them. People from the area are fervently encouraging him to contest the election, expressing their wishes and enthusiasm.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Soumya Ranjan Patnaik will accept the BJP’s ticket for the Ghasipura Assembly seat. His darshan and prayers to Maa Tarini may guide his decision as he seeks blessings and guidance of the Goddess for the way forward.

The upcoming election in Ghasipura promises to be an interesting contest, especially given the historical significance of the seat as the traditional stronghold of Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik, Soumya Ranjan’s elder brother. This time, Niranjan Patnaik is contesting from Bhandaripokhari assembly seat of Bhadrak district.
