​​​​​​​Sambalpur, Oct 20: In a heart-wrenching incident, a three-year-old girl died after drowning in a pond near her home in Redhakhol area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

As per reports, the incident took place in Patharkudia under Charmal police limits on Sunday evening when the toddler, identified as Mahima Haro, daughter of Roson Haro went to a nearby pond while playing near her house. Her parents were away for work at the time and discovered she was missing upon their return.

After a frantic search, villagers found the child floating unconscious in a nearby pond. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Upon getting the information, Charmal Police arrived at the scene and seized the body.

The cops have registered an unnatural death case and conducted a post-mortem before handing over the body to the bereaved family today.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
