Son of Sardaar 2 Review: Disappointing Sequel Fails Magic

'Son of Sardaar 2' Misses the mark

The sequel to the popular action-comedy, 'Son of Sardaar 2', trades the rustic charm of Punjab for the landscapes of Scotland, but loses its heart in the process. The film sees Ajay Devgn return as the confused Sardaar, Jassi, but this time he is caught in a muddled plot that relies heavily on India-Pakistan banter and fails to entertain.

Story Lost in Translation

The film's premise finds Jassi in Scotland, where he gets entangled in a chaotic mission involving a Pakistani wedding dancer, played by Mrunal Thakur. However, the chemistry between the two leads feels forced and unconvincing, making their romantic scenes awkward rather than endearing. Ajay Devgn appears lost for most of the film, with the comedy and action largely outsourced to the supporting cast.

Supporting Cast to the Rescue

It is the supporting actors who salvage the film from being a complete washout. Ravi Kishan is a standout as a Pakistan-hating gangster, delivering the film's best laughs with impeccable comic timing. Deepak Dobriyal and Sanjay Mishra also shine in their roles, bringing much-needed energy and depth to an otherwise lackluster script.

Despite their efforts, the film struggles with an uneven tone. The humor is patchy, and the social messaging feels tacked on. 'Son of Sardaar 2' tries to be a clean family entertainer, but with weak storytelling and a lack of the original's chaotic magic, it ends up being a forgettable and disappointing sequel.
