Cuttack, May 2: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly murdered his father in a fit of rage at Jagiyapada Raghunathpur village under Badabhui Panchayat within Athagarh police limits.

The accused, identified as Bhuti Naik, reportedly returned home in an intoxicated condition and got into a heated argument with his father, Bikal Naik. The situation escalated when Bhuti, in a drunken state, attacked his father with a grinding stone, killing him on the spot.

Alert villagers managed to overpower the accused, tied him to an electric pole, and informed the police. Acting swiftly, Athagarh police reached the spot, recovered the body, and took the accused into custody.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
