Balanga, May 19: In a disturbing incident from Ghusuri Khal village under Balanga police limits, a son allegedly subjected his elderly parents to severe physical and mental abuse after failing to secure family property in his name. The police have registered a complaint and launched an investigation.

According to reports, the accused, Harichandan Maharana, developed a habit of excessive drinking and frequently harassed his parents, Sarveswar Maharana and Shantilata, both verbally and physically.

The situation reportedly escalated following the recent death rituals of Shantilata’s daughter. During the ceremonies, Harichandan allegedly spent ₹50,000 and demanded that the family property be transferred to him. When his parents refused, he reportedly used abusive language and physically assaulted his mother.

Both parties were called to the Balanga police station, where authorities stated that appropriate legal action would be taken after a thorough inquiry. The case has drawn attention to issues of elder abuse and property disputes within families.
