Puri, May 24: With the annual Snana Yatra festival of Lord Jagannath set to be observed on June 11, the Puri district administration has begun full-scale preparations to ensure a smooth and disciplined celebration.

A high-level coordination meeting was held on Friday at Sadbhavana Bhawan, chaired by District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, officials from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), and heads of various line departments.

The focus of the discussion was on streamlining rituals and managing crowds, particularly at Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri, where devotees gather for darshan during the Anasara period — a time when the deities are kept away from public view for recuperation.

Officials reviewed infrastructure, crowd control measures, sanitation, water supply, and transportation facilities. They were directed to implement all necessary arrangements to ensure orderly darshan and a comfortable experience for devotees.

To bolster security and traffic management, the district police will deploy eight platoons of force during the festival. The administration affirmed that all stakeholders are working in close coordination to ensure the successful conduct of Snana Yatra.
