Jajpur, July 23: The inclusion of a live snake in a recent performance of Tulasi Gananatya has raised concerns, with the Forest Department now conducting an investigation into the matter.
The actor Sai, who was required to bring the snake to the stage for a dramatic scene, visited the Forest Department office in Jaijpur to present the necessary documentation for keeping the reptile. Officials confirmed that the required paperwork was submitted for review. However, after verification, the Forest Department sought further clarification from the actor.
The controversy deepened when, on Tuesday, a scheduled performance of Tulasi Gananatya at Akhadasala was inspected by a Forest Department official. The actor, however, was absent from the performance, leading the department to issue a formal notice for his appearance at the office.
The performance, which featured the actor handling a live snake in a key scene, has drawn significant attention. The actor was seen holding the snake during a live act on stage, raising questions about the safety and legality of using such wildlife in theatrical productions.
An official investigation by the Forest Department is currently underway to address the situation.
