Bhubaneswar, July 25: With the skyrocketing prices of Potato,Food & Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Friday made a surprise raid at a Bhubaneswar-based potato godown.
Patra accompanied by an enforcement team reached the potato storage at Aiginia in the state capital city to assess the stock and its selling prices.
Following the raid Patra said, Odisha has witnessed a steep hike in potato prices, cutting consumer’s pockets .The retail price of the steple diet has surged from Rs 30 per kg on July 20 to a whopping Rs 45-50 per kg.
During his inspection Patra said that the state has sufficient potatoes to meet demand for at least a week. At the same time he warned of strict actions against illegal stockists, greedy traders who are creating artificial scarcity and black marketing the essential vegetable.
