Puri, July 08: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has filed an official complaint with Singhadwar Police Station following the circulation of videos showing servitors using mobile phones atop the chariots during the Rath Yatra.
These visuals quickly went viral on social media and other platforms.
This year, the SJTA had explicitly banned the carrying and use of mobile phones on the chariots of the Holy Trinity, aiming to uphold the sanctity of the rituals and ensure public safety during the annual festival.
In a letter to the Inspector-in-Charge of Singhadwar Police Station, the Officer on Special Duty (Security) urged the initiation of legal proceedings against the servitors who breached this directive.
The letter stated that the presence and use of mobile phones during the sacred procession not only disrupt the spiritual atmosphere but also create potential safety hazards for both people and property.
