Bhubaneswar, February 7: The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has initiated a multi-agency search operation to locate Odisha sailor Sarthak Mohapatra, missing since February 3. The search is being coordinated with national and international stakeholders, including MRCC Mauritius, Singapore’s Flag State Administration, and Indian authorities.

DGS confirmed that the operation is ongoing with assistance from nearby vessels. The agency has also activated a fact-finding investigation and is ensuring compliance with legal obligations and welfare assistance.

The Odisha government, responding to an urgent appeal from Sarthak’s family, has sought immediate action.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik, along with other state leaders, have urged the central authorities to further.

Patnaik expressed concern for the sailor’s safety and called for the Centre’s help in tracing him.

Sarthak's mother, Rashmita Mohapatra, has filed a missing person report at Saheednagar police station.
