New Delhi, August 11: As a matter of pride, as many as six Odias have been invited by the Centre to this year's Independence Day Celebration as special guests.
The list of these fortunate Odias includes two fishermen—Kanda Alaya and K Saraswati of the Chhatrapur area in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Three beneficiaries of Amrit Sarovar Mission namely Jagyanseni Patel of Bolangir, Savitree Das of Ganjam and Akshaya Kumar Jayfula of Koraput have got formal invitations from the Government of India, to join the National Festival.
Similarly, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme beneficiary Yuvaraj Chhatria of the Komna area from the Nuapada district has been invited to witness the occasion to be held at the Red Fort, among others as a national guest, said sources.
