Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: At least six persons lost their lives in two separate road mishaps in Odisha on Friday night.
In the first mishap, a car crashed near Gadadharpur village under Tigiria police limits killing four people on the spot.
The victims were identified as Tapan Rout and Tulu Parida from Palaput village in Banki, Rama Swain from Harirajpur village, and another individual from the Badamba area in Cuttack.
Sources said, the deceased, who were friends, had attended a marriage feast in Koili Kanya village and were returning when the driver lost control over the wheel; meanwhile, the car collided with a house wall. The impact was so severe that the car became a mangled heap, leading to the immediate demise of the four friends trapped inside.
While the exact cause of the mishap is under investigation, the Tigiria IIC suggests that dense fog might have played a role.
In the second incident, two motorcyclists lost their lives in a collision with a bus at Janhia Chhak near Nischintakoili in Cuttack on the same night. Following the collision, the bus rolled into a farmland beside the road, with all passengers reported to be safe.
Being informed, Salepur police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
