Balasore, Sept 12: People from as many as six villages near the Chandipur Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Odisha’s Balasore were vacated for the scheduled missile testing from the Lander Craft module (LC-II).
The Balasore district administration executed all essential measures to evacuate over 3100 people from around six villages sourounded at a close proximity.
To ensure public safety, the administration took steps for the evacuation and security of people within a 2.5-kilometer radius of the launch site. The people from six villages- Jaydevkasba Pahi, Sahajangar Pahi, Bhimpur Pahi, Tundra Pahi, Khedupahi, and Kusumuli – were temporarily relocated to three multipurpose cyclone shelters for their safety and security during the test0-fire.
It’s why temporary camps were set up at Jaydevkasba Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Jaydevkasba Pahi and Sahajangar Pahi residents), Khadupahi Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Khadupahi and Tundura residents) and Bhimpur Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Kusumuli and Bhimpur residents).
Over 100 government officials were and at least 15 sections of police force were deployed to assist evacuees, comute to the safe zones.
Essential arrangements were made by the ITR Chandipur for ease of the translocated people, said sources.
