In Srikshetra, there is a unique tradition that takes place before the wedding of Shiva. This is called the Kanya Chori Nitti (କନ୍ୟା ଚୋରୀ ନୀତି). If we look at the tradition in Shiva temples, the idols of Chandrasekhar and Parvati are placed in the Shiva temple. But the winter sixth of Srikshetra mainly refers to the winter sixth of the five Pandavas or the five Mahadevs (Sri Jamveswar, Sri Lokanath, Sri Markandeshwar, Sri Kapalmochana, Sri Nilakantha). The idols of the five Mahadevs do not stay in their temples like in other Shiva temples, but in the south house of the Srimandir (where Sri Madanmohan stays) and in the treasury house, only Lokanath stays in the treasury house as a Mahamantri. And the idols of the remaining four Mahadevs stay in the south house. The idols of Parvati of these Mahadevs stay in the houses of their servants as virgin daughters.
On the day before Shiva's wedding, i.e. on the evening of the first day of Shukla Chaturthi, after the incense is consumed, after the Ballav and Sukhi ghar obog is completed in the temple, they leave from the Sri Loknath Bhandar ghar, Yameswar, Markandeya, Kapalmochana, Nilakantha Dakshin ghar and go to their respective temples in a palanquin. The five Mahadevs take a great bath, perform alms and perform ablution in their respective temples and enter. After that, morning incense is offered in the said temples. After that, sandalwood and alat are applied. After that, after the yaat obog, the five Mahadevs travel around Puri in their own planes and eat the sahi sahi. After that, they hide in the sahi and go to their in-laws' house. Here, after the bride's theft is performed, they return to their temples with Parvati. After this bride's theft is completed, each Thakur visits his own temple. After that, evening incense and the Badasinghar ritual are performed and the mountain is formed. Regarding this policy, Lokanath's servants say, Kanyachori is the only festival which is celebrated only in the temple.
Here the question arises, did Shiva really steal Parvati and marry her? The answer is 'No, then there is a reason behind such a policy, when on the day of Rukmini's kidnapping, Shri Madanmohan kidnaps Rukmini or Lakshmi Thakurani and marries her, then the Panch Mahadevs also take Parvati from the servant's house and marry her. Whatever happens in the temple, the mark of the sage remains in everything, so it will not be unreasonable to call the policy of taking Parvati from the servant's house of the Panch Mahadevs as Kanyachori.
