Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: A transgender person was allegedly murdered near CIFA on the Puri–Bhubaneswar road on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Anjali, a native of Salepur, sources said.

According to preliminary reports, two unidentified miscreants arrived on a motorcycle and attacked Anjali with a knife, leaving her critically injured. Believing her to be dead, the attackers reportedly dumped her on a sand mound near the roadside and fled.

Later, Anjali reportedly regained consciousness and informed her associates over the phone. She was immediately rushed by ambulance to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police from Pipili and Capital police stations reached the crime scene and have initiated an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused, while the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
