Bhadrak, Mar 20: In a tragic incident, a shopkeeper reportedly died after a costumer attacked him over a feud. The incident occurred in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Kamesh Parida of Baralpokhari while the deceased was identified as Nijay Panda.
According to the information, Panda owned a grocery shop in Baralpokhari in Charampa. On Wednesday morning, around 10:30 am, he opened his shop, and Kamesh arrived to purchase groceries. Kamesh selected items amounting to Rs 180 but could only offer Rs 140 due to a lack of funds. Panda, however, declined to accept partial payment and insisted on receiving the full amount.
This led to an argument, during which Kamesh became enraged and pushed Panda forcefully, causing him to fall unconscious. Upon hearing the commotion, nearby villagers rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, Kamesh managed to escape before anyone could apprehend him.
Concerned neighbours quickly shifted Panda to Bhadrak hospital. Tragically, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Being informed, Bhadrak Police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for postmortem. Senior police officials have stated that necessary legal measures will be pursued once the cause of death is determined. In the meantime, the accused customer is reported to be on the run.
