Cuttack, Nov 13: A chaotic situation erupted during the concluding day of the annual Bali Yatra celebrations in Cuttack on Thursday evening, when an enormous crowd gathered to watch Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal’s live performance.

The huge turnout near the main stage led to a stampede-like situation, leaving at least two people unconscious.

According to eyewitnesses, thousands of visitors had flocked to the venue for the much-anticipated concert. However, crowd control measures fell short as attendees began pushing against the barricades in an attempt to move closer to the stage. The surge triggered panic and confusion, with several individuals collapsing due to suffocation and exhaustion.

Police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to bring the situation under control after some people tried to break through the barricades near the pandal. Security and police personnel quickly intervened to restore order.

The two unconscious individuals were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, no major casualties or serious injuries have been reported.

Senior officials, including the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), reached the venue to supervise the situation and ensure the crowd dispersed safely.
