Keonjhar, Nov 8: In a heartbreaking incident, two plus two students of Kanak Manjari Women’s College lost their lives after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Salapada on National Highway-20 under Ghasipura police limits on Friday.

According to reports, the students were returning home after classes when a speeding vehicle struck them just a short distance from the college and fled the scene. Both girls were left unconscious and were immediately rescued by locals, who rushed them to Anandapur Medical College. However, doctors there declared them brought dead.

The deceased students have been identified as Deepanjali Sahu of Belbahali village and Annapurna Patra of Siapada village.

Following the tragic deaths, tension gripped the hospital premises for some time. Later, irate locals from Belbahali staged a road blockade demanding justice and action against the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
