Patna, November 17: Bihar's newly-formed government is likely to take the oath of office on November 20 in Patna. The ceremony is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other key leaders from the NDA, including Union ministers.

Following a Cabinet meeting on Monday, Janata Dal (United) leader Ashok Choudhary indicated that the existing Cabinet has been dissolved, and a new one will be formed shortly. He added that there is no vacancy for the Chief Minister's position. Speaking to ANI, Choudhary stated, "We believe the Cabinet has been dissolved today, all officials have been thanked, and a new Cabinet will be constituted soon. As for the Chief Minister’s post, there is no vacancy, as we have made clear from day one."

Earlier today, Nitish Kumar visited Raj Bhavan in Patna to meet with the Governor, a move seen as part of the transition process following the NDA's significant victory in the recent Assembly elections. The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 were held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results being declared on November 14. The NDA secured a decisive win, clinching 202 seats, a three-fourths majority in the 243-member Assembly. This marks the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-seat threshold, having previously won 206 seats in the 2010 elections.

The BJP emerged as the largest party with 89 seats, followed by JD(U) with 85 seats. Other NDA allies included LJP (RV) with 19 seats, HAM (S) with 5, and RLM with 4. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan secured only 35 seats, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) winning 25, Congress 6, CPI(ML)(L) 2, IIP 1, and CPI(M) 1.
