Several DJ-loaded vehicles seized in Odisha for playing loud music

Jagatsinghpur, Oct 9: Jagatsinghpur police has seized DJ-loaded vehicles and other musical instruments in various locations for playing loud music that affects heath of elderly persons and ill people.

Police personnel conducted raids at different places in Kujang, Tirtol, and Jagatsinghpur areas and seized several DJ-loaded vehicles and other musical instruments for not following the Orissa High Court’s directive to install sound limiters to ensure that the decibel level does not exceed 65 decibels.

The High Court has mandated that all band parties using amplifiers with sound boxes and various musical instruments must install sound limiters to ensure that the decibel level does not exceed 65 decibels. However, despite multiple complaints, the situation has not improved.

Police had imposed restriction on playing of DJ after complaints of many elderly persons got affected by the loud music played by Ganesh Puja immersion parties last week.

Notably, 70-year-old Bamdev Panda from Parahat, under Balikuda police jurisdiction, collapsed at his home last week during the high-decibel Ganesh Puja immersion festival and breathed his last while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Similarly, 65-year-old Premlata Mohanty of Tartang in Jagatsinghpur block too collapsed due to loud DJ music during the immersion festival. She was admitted to Mandashai Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment and got discharged after a day.
