Bargarh, Aug 21: In a shocking incident, police in Odisha’s Bargarh district arrested seven youths on Wednesday for allegedly circulating an obscene video of a minor girl under the Bheden Police Station area.
The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by the victim and her family members. Acting on the complaint, police registered Bheden PS Case No. 188 dated 19 August 2025, under Sections 126(21), 296/35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 66E, 67, 67A, and 67B of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012.
The accused have been identified as Basant Patel (24), Chhabil Melli (23), Jibardhan Behera (24), Prakash Padhan (24), Subrat Padhan (26), Toshbant Padhan (26), and Prafulla Behera (23).
Confirming the arrests, Bheden Police Station IIC Sushant Das said the investigation revealed that the obscene video had been widely circulated by the accused. “We are further probing the matter to identify if more people are involved in the case,” he stated.
Das further added that medical examinations and legal formalities were carried out before the accused were produced in court.
