Bhubaneswar, Jul 10: Senior Odisha Journalist Purnendu Pattnaik Passes Away at 53Senior journalist Purnendu Pattnaik passed away on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 53.
According to family sources, Pattnaik had met with an accident a few days ago and was admitted to the hospital after developing blood clots. Following initial treatment, he was discharged and returned to his residence in Puri.
However, his health deteriorated on the day of Snana Purnima after he developed a brain hematoma. He was immediately shifted back to Capital Hospital, where he remained under intensive medical care. Despite sustained efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
After the completion of necessary hospital formalities, his mortal remains will be taken to Swargadwar in Puri, where his last rites will be performed.
Pattnaik was a widely respected figure in Odisha’s media fraternity, admired for his fearless reporting, professional integrity, and dedication to journalism. He began his career in radio before moving to television journalism, where he worked with several leading news channels for more than two decades.
His untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the state's media community, with journalists, colleagues, and well-wishers mourning the loss of a seasoned media professional whose contributions to journalism earned him widespread respect.
