New Delhi, Ap 15: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Agartala on April 17, extensive security measures have been put in place in the capital city and its surrounding areas.

The West Tripura district administration has designated a 'no-fly zone' and 'red zone' across Agartala. Prime Minister Modi is slated to address a large election rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on April 17, coinciding with the culmination of campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19.

The administration has also prohibited the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles in Agartala and its outskirts on April 16 and 17, with penalties outlined for violators under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police forces have intensified security arrangements to ensure a smooth visit.
