Rourkela, August 13: In a fierce encounter between security forces and Maoists in the Poseita forest under Goelkera police station, one Maoist was killed today. An SLAR rifle was recovered from the site of the encounter.
According to officials, upon receiving intelligence about Maoist presence in the forest, personnel from the CRPF and Cobra units launched a search operation. During the operation, the Maoists, who were hiding in the area, opened fire on the security forces. The personnel retaliated promptly, resulting in the death of one Maoist.
The Maoists fled the scene after the encounter. Security forces recovered the body of the deceased Maoist along with an SLAR rifle. The search operation in the forest is currently ongoing.
