Bargarh, Sept 10: A 68-year-old man from Ambapali in Bargarh has allegedly died after contracting scrub typhus.

The deceased, identified as Bhagirathi Bhoi, had reportedly been suffering from headache, fever and eye pain for several days. His family subsequently admitted him to a private hospital for treatment.

Following blood tests, doctors reportedly confirmed that he had contracted scrub typhus. According to his son, doctors said that the infection had affected multiple organs as he had sought medical treatment at a late stage.

When approached for a response, health department officials declined to comment on camera. Officials said that a team has been formed to investigate the incident and that the complete details would emerge after the inquiry.
