Bhubaneswar, April 6: As many as eight individuals are undergoing treatment for sunstroke in Odisha, with temperatures exceeding an uncomfortable 43 degrees Celsius. The affected individuals include five from Angul, and one each from Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Bhubaneswar. Fortunately, there have been no reported sunstroke-related deaths in the state at this time.
Public Health Director Dr. Niranjan Mishra has emphasized the need for medical facilities to remain vigilant and prepared for heatstroke patients this summer. Special beds and medicines are already available at District Headquarters Hospitals for treating those affected by heatstroke. Dr. Mishra highlighted symptoms such as dry tongue, vomiting, low blood pressure, body ache, and continuous sweting as indicators of heatstroke.
Additionally, doctors have undergone three-day training specifically for treating sunstroke patients. To address any concerns regarding sunstroke-related fatalities, investigative teams have been established at the district level.
