Hyderabad, Jan 23: An Odia woman was held in Telangana on Friday while trafficking 16 kg ganja in Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express.

The RNCC Railways EAGLE squad, Telangana recovered the contraband, packed in two suitcases and arrested one Mamata Digal, a native of Kandhamal, Odisha.

According to the Telangana police, with reliable inputs regarding ganja trafficking in trains, the EAGLE unit undertook a search operation in the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express at the Begumpet Railway station. Meanwhile, the contraband was recovered, that was carefully wrapped and packed in two trolley bags.

The contraband was seized and the accused woman was taken to custody.

Upon grilling, the woman confessed to her crime and said that she was working for a peddler named Ashok who used to import ganja from Odisha to Mumbai time and again.

Further investigation is underway and efforts are on to nab the key accused, said the police.
