New Delhi, January 22: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed profound sorrow over the tragic road accident in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 10 Indian Army personnel. Sharing his condolences via an X post, Singh stated that the injured soldiers were receiving medical attention and that all necessary measures had been taken to ensure the best care.

"Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Doda in which we lost 10 brave soldiers of the Indian Army. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The injured soldiers are receiving medical care, and all necessary directions have been given to ensure the best possible treatment. The nation stands with our Armed Forces and their families during this difficult time," Singh wrote.

According to the Indian Army, an Army vehicle carrying personnel skidded off the road while navigating the treacherous terrain in adverse weather conditions in Doda. The Army's White Knight Corps reported, "In an unfortunate incident, an Army vehicle carrying troops for an operation slipped off the road while navigating difficult terrain in bad weather in the general area of Doda. There are multiple casualties, including fatalities. The injured have been evacuated for further treatment."

The office of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, confirmed that 10 soldiers lost their lives in the incident, while an equal number were injured. "Deeply saddened at the loss of 10 brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember their outstanding service and supreme sacrifice. My deepest condolences to the grieving families," read the X post from the LG Office.

The post further stated, "In this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support. Ten injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital. Senior officials have been directed to ensure the best possible treatment. Praying for their speedy recovery."

The mishap took place in the Khani Top area of Bhaderwah, prompting immediate rescue and relief operations. Despite challenging weather and difficult terrain, Army and local administration teams quickly mobilized to the site. The injured soldiers received first aid at the location before being airlifted to Udhampur for specialized medical treatment.
