Khallikote, Feb 24: In a tragic and shocking incident, a newlywed bride died under mysterious circumstances on the fourth night after her wedding in Kendupat village under Khallikote police limits, plunging the area into mourning.

The deceased has been identified as Pooja Behera, daughter of Shankar Behera of Kendupat village. She had married Bipin Jena, son of Vidyadhar Jena of the same village, on Friday (20th). The wedding was celebrated with customary rituals and festivities.

According to sources, after the Chaturthi ritual was observed, the bride and groom retired to their room on Saturday night. However, around midnight, Pooja reportedly fell critically ill. Family members rushed her to the Khallikote Community Health Centre in a blood-stained condition. Doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead.

On being informed, Khallikote police reached the hospital, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. An unnatural death case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Khallikote Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ramesh Kumar Pradhan said that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report. The incident has left the local community in shock, with many questions surrounding the circumstances of the young bride’s sudden demise.
