Rourkela, Nov 7: Clad in her khaki uniform, Home Guard Asha Tiga stands at her post on Ring Road’s Airport Aid Post near Space Chhak, carrying her five-month-old daughter in her arms. Despite the challenges of new motherhood, Asha’s commitment to her duty remains unwavering- a story that has now captured the admiration of many across Rourkela.

Serving with the Rourkela Police Administration since 2017, Asha hails from Pradhanpali under Chhend Police Station limits. Her husband, Basant Kisan, a driver by profession, recently suffered a leg fracture in a road accident about fifteen days ago and is currently unable to work. The couple has two daughters- the elder studying in Class 5, and the younger just five months old.

Since July, Asha has been posted at the Airport Aid Post. Her duty hours run from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Before heading out, she prepares breakfast and takes care of her family’s needs. With no one at home to look after her infant, she brings her baby to work every day, managing both her professional and maternal responsibilities simultaneously.

When asked how she handles emergencies while on duty, Asha responds with quiet determination:

“I wear the khaki uniform-duty always comes first.”

During road accidents or other incidents, she safely lays her baby down at the post and rushes to assist. She alerts the police station and provides first aid to the injured before further help arrives.

Her unwavering dedication has drawn praise from citizens and intellectuals alike, who commend her as a shining example of courage, compassion, and commitment.

In balancing her role as both a devoted mother and a dutiful officer, Home Guard Asha Tiga has become an inspiration — proving that true service knows no boundaries between home and duty.
