Say no to ragging: 4 students at Berhampur University expelled, 13 slapped with hefty amounts of fine

Berhampur, Oct 6: The Vice-Chancellor of the Berhampur University in Ganjam rusticated as many as 4 students and slapped hefty amounts of fine against 13 senior boys for ragging. 

Based on the report of the Anti-Ragging Committee, the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity Prof Geetanjali Dash initiated the stern actions against the alleged students.

As a part of the action, Rs 1000 fine has been slapped against 13 while they are asked to submit undertakings in black & white ensuring no further mischieves during their tenures in the varsity.

Similarly, the rusticated ones who were expelled from the hostel have been asked to vacate the premises within a week.

According to report, some first-year post-graduate students had alleged Ragging against some seniors. In a complaint addressed to the UGC, the students had alleged that some of their seniors came to their hostel rooms without any business and ragged them.
